As a true classic wine bar, A Wine Flights Bar and Bistro offers Kansas City’s & Johnson County’s largest selection of wine flights at 80 plus (three, 2oz pours), wines by the taste (2oz) or glass (6oz) at 300 wines and growing. We want to make wine a part of your daily life. That is why we offer the majority of our wines by the taste (2 oz). A little wine daily has great health benefits and our wine bar allows you to enjoy a small amount of wine without committing to a glass.

About our philosophy
We are focused and dedicated to growing our consumers wine knowledge. As the first true wine bar (no glam cocktails) in the entire Kansas City metro area, our philosophy is wine education, conversation and a relaxed wine way of life. 

While life continues to pull us all in a million different directions, our team has created an environment that resembles the slow - take life as it comes lifestyle of many Italian, French, Spanish, & South American countries. We want you to while away the time over a glass of wine, read a newspaper, or chat with a friend. No hurry! No worry! Wine is meant to be sipped and savored.

About our decor & atmosphere
Stop in and grab a seat at our polished granite tasting bar and talk wine with your neighbors. We invite the new wine drinkers as well as the expert wine drinkers to expand their palate and share wine travel stories with friends. Our décor (created by Sherri Hamiel/ CEO) and atmosphere promotes comfort as you step in and smell the luxurious leather chairs or have your ears titillated by the clink of crystal stemware against 8000 lbs of polished granite, and our one of a kind, 1200 bottle glass wine cellar. Add, palm trees, original hand painted artwork, videos of the world’s great wine regions, 14 foot windows with a view of our small village style tree lined patio with a soothing view of our outside fountain…you have the makings for great wine tastings.

About our cuisine & wine
Our menu was created with the idea of having wine from all over the world paired with the food you enjoy at home everyday. Our Menu Architect (RJ Hamiel II/ COO) named our cuisine “familiar wine friendly food”. This short title explains why every item on our food menu can be identified as a favorite. We feature fresh fish, shellfish, chicken, filets, burgers, flatbread pizzas, salads and much more. RJ believes quality ingredients prepared simply allows each item’s unique qualities to shine.

Our wine list is second to none with continual growth. We want to help you build your wine arsenal. Think of us as your taste before you buy wine team. RJ is also our Wine Director, his view on wine is based on one easy to remember phrase, “It’s just juice.” RJ has an extensive background in wine & food. His goal is to purchase wines that best represent their region , AVA or country. He presently has over 30 grape varietals on our list and he spends time daily locating new and interesting wines at affordable prices. At present our wine list has 80 wine flights & 200 wines available by the taste or glass. By the end of summer (2008) our list will reach 100 wine flights and 300 wines by the taste or glass.

About our management
Both Sherri and RJ are the principles and founders of PRANZO! USA Restaurant Group, LLC and the creator of A Wine Flights Bar & Bistro concept. Our company was founded in 2003 by Sherri & RJ while living in San Diego California. Both Sherri and RJ are from the Midwest (Sherri Kansas City, MO/ RJ Detroit, MI) and have a combined 30 years in the restaurant/ hospitality industry where both have used their talents as restaurant consultants. Sherri has 14 years experience in restaurant/ hotel construction with national clients such as SUBWAY®, Jamba Juice®, Wyland Hotels®, Morton’s of Chicago®, The Rock Church® and many more. Sherri used her vast knowledge to form our construction team and has her focus on our second unit.

RJ has 16 years in restaurant/ hospitality operations specializing in single/ multi unit management and development. RJ has operated units for national & international companies in cities such as Beverly Hills, CA, Hollywood, CA, Newport Beach, CA, Kansas City, MO, and San Diego, CA. .

We as a company look forward to serving our community and setting the standard for wine and food enjoyment.
